New Life: Transformed Thinking

Pastor Jim gave an inspiring message about the radical transformation Jesus’ resurrection brings into our lives.

He explores the transformative power of Jesus' resurrection, emphasizing the idea of believers experiencing new life and restoration through faith in Christ. Several passages from the New Testament, such as 2 Corinthians 5:17, Ephesians 4:22–24, & Romans 12:2 are referenced to illustrate the concept of believers being made new in Christ. He draws from Potato's allegory of “The Cave,” highlighting the challenge of broadening one's perception and understanding of reality, urging listeners to embrace a renewed mindset shaped by the Gospel.

Jim offers us ten principles of a Gospel worldview are outlined, including humility, biblical formation, love for all, forgiveness, redemption for all, combatting racism, pursuing holiness, sacrificial generosity, discernment, and cultivating healthy relationships:

1. A follower of Jesus, transformed by the Gospel, lives in HUMBLE submission.

2. A follower of Jesus, transformed by the Gospel, is BIBLICALLY formed by the Scriptures.

3. A follower of Jesus, transformed by the Gospel, loves not only their NEIGHBOR but also their "FRENEMIES" and ENEMIES.

4. A follower of Jesus, transformed by the Gospel, is called to EXTEND the same forgiveness they have received.

5. ‌A follower of Jesus, transformed by the Gospel, understands that no one's JOURNEY is too ROUNDABOUT and no life is too MESSY for God to REDEEM.

6. A follower of Jesus, transformed by the Gospel, is called to actively ERADICATE any PREJUDICE and COMBAT all RACISM, acknowledging that no one, regardless of their RACE or ETHNICITY, is beyond the reach of God's GRACE and FORGIVENESS.

7. ‌A follower of Jesus, transformed by the Gospel, PURSUES a life of HOLINESS.

8. A follower of Jesus, transformed by the Gospel, learns to EMBRACE sacrificial GENEROSITY.

9. A follower of Jesus, transformed by the Gospel, develops the ability to DISCERN between GOOD and EVIL.

10. A follower of Jesus, transformed by the Gospel, CULTIVATES HEALTHY and LOVING relationships.

If we truly want to be followers of Jesus, we are called to embrace the transformative power of the Gospel, to allow our minds to be renewed and to live out a Gospel-centered worldview in every aspect of our lives.
